After the second and final rest day in the scorching south of the Iberian Peninsula, the Vuelta a Espana begins today the third and decisive week. On the agenda is stage number 16, the Cortegana - La Rabida. Palos de la Frontera covering 181 km, with 1,980 metres of elevation gain.

It is one of the last opportunities for the fast men but it won't be easy for the teams interested in bringing their leaders to the sprint: first of all, the opening part of the stage has a winding route with continuous climbs that are ideal terrain for launching attacks. And in the finale, when riders finally find the flat terrain, they will have to contend with the wind coming from the sea that could cause crosswinds.
