With an outstanding performance, the not yet twenty-one-year-old Swiss rider Melk Zumstein (who will turn twenty-one on October 14th) claimed victory in Piazza Marsilio Ficino in the historic center of Figline at the 48th edition of the Giro del Valdarno-Gp Industria Commercio Artigianato, a national race for elite and under 23 riders organized by G.S. Figline Bike. It was a brilliant display by an athlete who had won the Gran Premio San Giuseppe in Montecassiano in the Marche region in mid-March during the 2026 season, in addition to achieving numerous other notable placings.

The demanding course with three initial undulating laps of approximately twenty kilometers, followed by seven final laps of the classic 15.8 km circuit featuring the climb towards Camping Girasole, resulted in significant selection with only 42 of the 122 starters completing the race.

The official start took place from Piazza Santa Lucia in Incisa Valdarno, with the race dominated by a decisive breakaway of 9 riders. The small group gradually fell apart as the kilometers passed, and in the final stages the Velo Club Mendrisio athlete took control, finishing the race with almost a minute over the first pursuer, the capable Monister, while Australian Bailey came in third. Two other Team Hopplà athletes, Gialli and Magli, returning from the multi-stage Giro del Friuli, rounded out the top five, but the Florentine team missed out on victory, which instead went to the outstanding Zumstein.
