The climbing resumes on the roads of the Vuelta on a day when the intense heat is also set to play an important role: today features stage number 14, the Jaen - Sierra de la Pandera covering 154.5 km, with 4,170 meters of elevation gain.

It is a relatively short but decidedly demanding stage, practically devoid of flat terrain. In order, riders will face the climb of Los Villares, category 2, 11 km at 5.4% with the summit at km 92.8, then the Puerto de Locuni, category 2, 9 km at 5.1% with the pass located twenty kilometers from the finish. At this point, eight kilometers of descent before tackling the final climb to La Pandera, a category 1, 12 km at 7.2%. A climb that shows no mercy and that will bring the general classification contenders to the fore: Mas with the objective of strengthening his lead, the others with the goal of gaining seconds ahead of a final week full of drama.
