The first medals arrive already on the opening day of the Junior Track World Championships in Heusden Zolder, and they speak loud and clear for Italy: two silvers that confirm the strength of our movement and the quality of our young riders.
Treviso native Agata Campana, racing for BTF Burzoni VO2 Team Pink, opens the Italian medal count with a significant silver in the Women's Scratch. Campana races with intelligence, always in the leading positions, and finishes behind American Emma Louise Jemenez Palos, the new world champion. On the third step of the podium is Russian Angelina Novolodskaya, who in Italy races for Petrucci Gauss.
The second medal of the day comes from the Men's Scratch with Jacopo Vendramin. The Venetian from Industrial Forniture Moro C&G Capital improves on the bronze he won last year in the Netherlands, moving up one step and confirming himself as one of the most consistent riders in the category. Vendramin, however, must give way to German Raul Esch, who delivers a flawless performance that earns him the world title. Completing the podium is Briton James Canham.
