The Arctic Race of Norway was also swept up by the announcement of the tragic death of Finlay Tarling. The news struck like a bolt from the blue within the race caravan yesterday during the awards ceremony of the second stage and quickly spread among those working in the sport, reaching the teams and athletes present on site in short order.

Among them were clearly the members of the NSN Cycling Team (the team in which the young British rider competed), who had come to Norway to try to make their mark in the short Scandinavian stage race and were shaken, more than others, by what happened in Portugal.

Despite their grief, the team decided to continue the Norwegian race and present themselves at the start of the third stage where, wearing mourning armbands and united in front of everyone, they participated emotionally in the minute of applause organized by the race organizers to remember and pay tribute to the late nineteen-year-old English rider. Among them was also Alessandro Pinarello who this season, alongside Tarling, had raced in April at the O Gran Caminho achieving his first professional victory.
