We haven't covered this until now out of respect for the athlete's wishes and those of her friends at AS Florentia, but now Anna Kolyzhuk's decision to open a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to pay for her medical care "releases" us from that commitment and allows us to tell the story of this 22-year-old Ukrainian cyclist who was the victim of a serious accident during the Sei Giorni delle Rose Bianche at Fiorenzuola.

As mentioned, a fundraising campaign has been launched for Anna Kolyzhuk, a young and unfortunate Ukrainian cyclist who was injured during the last Sei Giorni delle Rose at Fiorenzuola. The GoFundMe campaign was launched by her friend and fellow cyclist Matvii Ushakov: Anna suffered a serious spinal injury and her rehabilitation phase will be very long and costly. She will need mobility aids and accessible transportation. For this reason, the goal is to raise 100,000 Swiss francs (just over 100,000 euros) to enable the athlete to receive the necessary medical care.

Anna is a 22-year-old Ukrainian cyclist, specialized in road and track cycling, member of the WCC Team. In 2022 she won a silver medal at the UCI Junior World Track Cycling Championships. Cycling has shaped her life, her ambitions and the future she was building day after day.

On July 22, 2026, during the elite women's elimination race at the International Grand Prix of Fiorenzuola – 6 Giorni delle Rose at Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Anna was involved in a serious accident. She was airlifted to Parma hospital, where she underwent surgery following a serious spinal injury.

Anna now faces a long journey involving specialized rehabilitation and physiotherapy, mobility aids and adaptive equipment, accessible transportation, personal assistance and significant adjustments to daily life. The initial goal of 100,000 Swiss francs will support Anna's documented needs in terms of medical care, rehabilitation, accessibility and independence, not covered by insurance, public services or institutional support. Once insurance coverage and costs are confirmed, we will provide transparent updates and explain how the funds will be used.

This is a personal fundraising campaign for medical expenses following a cycling accident in Italy. It is not connected to the war in Ukraine or any humanitarian aid campaign.

I am Matvii Ushakov, Anna's friend and fellow cyclist, and I am organizing this fundraising campaign with her written consent. Anna Kolyzhuk is now publicly listed on GoFundMe as the sole beneficiary and has completed transfer verification. Once verification by GoFundMe is complete, all payments will be credited directly to her Swiss bank account. I will neither receive nor control the funds.
