According to initial reports, the young cyclist encountered a bump along the course and, for reasons still under investigation, lost control of her bike, colliding with a linden tree. The impact occurred approximately eight kilometers from the finish line. The girl, originally from the Treviso area but residing in Portogruaro, was immediately assisted by medical personnel present at the event. Given the severity of her condition, she was airlifted to Ospedale Cà Foncello in Treviso, where she is hospitalized in intensive care with a serious head trauma.
Her father, Andrea Miglioranza, who is also president of La Sorgente di Pradipozzo, is at her bedside in the hospital: "The CT scan results give us reason to hope" – he told colleagues at La Tribuna di Treviso. "I noticed that ten meters from the point where she fell there was a speed bump. It wouldn't take much to unscrew it, remove it for the race, and then put it back. This makes me think. And it makes me very angry".
