The Tour de France is heading East towards the appointment with the Vosges, scheduled for next weekend. If yesterday we witnessed the fastest stage in history, today we depart from a time of speed: stage number 12 indeed starts from the Nevers Magny-Cours racing circuit. The finish line is located at Chalon-sur-Saône after 179.1 km, with 1,800 meters of elevation gain.

The stage will wind for many kilometers along the Loire. It will then pass through Montceau-les-Mines, tackle two fourth-category climbs such as the Côte de Lanty at km 76.5 (2.1 km at 4%) and the Côte de Cuzy at km 97.8 (2.5 km at 4.5%). In the second part, as the race ventures into the vineyards of the Saône, another fourth-category climb, the Côte de Montagny-les-Buxy at km 159.4, fourth category (2.7 km at 4.3%).

What kind of race should we expect? A carbon copy of yesterday's stage: all-out start to secure the breakaway, an attempt by a group of attackers and sprinters' teams controlling to not miss an opportunity that... risks being the last for the fast wheels before Paris.
