Today Tadej Pogacar wrote a new chapter in his extraordinary career with an emotional victory in the tenth stage of the Tour at Le Lioran in the Massif Central. At the finish line, the Slovenian champion expressed his joy and gratitude in a series of statements that reflect the importance of teamwork and fan support along the route: «The last time we arrived here, the challenge came down to a sprint (beaten by Vingegaard, ed.), this time I won. Today was an incredible day. The team did fantastic work. We had been targeting this stage for a long time: something similar happened last year, I arrived completely exhausted», explains Pogacar, who gained 44" (plus 10" time bonus) on Vingegaard, second in the general classification.
Then Pogacar dedicated a thought to the fans, highlighting the electric atmosphere along the route: «Thanks to all the fans who came out today along the road. It was a fantastic atmosphere, even though some booed, but all those who booed gave us strength». Speaking about race strategy, Pogacar revealed how the final ten kilometers were a real "chaos": «There were communication problems with the radio, but I remained fully focused. All I had in mind was to try to keep pushing all the way to the top».
Now in the standings Pogacar has 3'36" on Vingegaard, 4'06" on Evenepoel and 4'22" on Ayuso. He has worn his 60th yellow jersey, matching Miguel Indurain in this ranking: ahead of the Slovenian there are only Merckx and Hinault: «So far the Tour has been perfect for me and for the team. We just need to enjoy this moment».
