Filippo Ganna came close to the yellow jersey and in the coming weeks will be hunting for the Tour de France stage victory that eludes him. Meanwhile, from his Vignone comes good news for tomorrow's champions and Italian cycling as a whole. Starting next year, the Filippo Ganna Academy will enter the juniors category; in 2027, the team created by the multi-medalist Italian champion in track and time trial (pictured at the opening with registered youth riders at the start of the season, ed.) to introduce young people to cycling will make its debut in the category.

An important project that will feature a high-level calendar with international competitions and will aim to guide young athletes through the most important category in youth cycling with expertise and professionalism. The team will have as its official feeder the youth squads from the clubs G.S. Aspiratori Otelli, Esperia Piasco, Pedale Ossolano and Vigor Cycling Team. The U.C. Piasco Society, which presents itself as one of the most important realities in the category in Piedmont, has embraced the project by becoming an integral part of it.

Technical direction will be entrusted to Sports Director Roberto De Filippo, a technician with consolidated experience boasting 172 victories, 18 regional titles, 12 Italian titles, 1 European title and a silver medal in a world time trial championship, who has followed many young riders in the category who later turned professional, including Filippo Ganna himself. De Filippo, a graduate of the University of Turin, wrote his thesis in Social Psychology studying cohesion within sports groups and will be assisted by sports director Gianluca Cesare.

An important collaboration will come from the Aspiratori Otelli proposed by Laura and Mauro Otelli to honor the memory of their father Giancarlo Otelli, a great cycling enthusiast who was Filippo's president when he was a junior. The team is being formed and will include among its members Luca Gugnino, one of the most promising athletes in the category.
