Great pages of cycling history have been written on Montjuic and today the Tour de France... grants an encore, following the spectacle delivered yesterday by the time-trial prologue. The second stage indeed features the start from Tarragona with the finish line placed in Barcelona after 168.5 km.

The first part of the stage unfolds along the Mediterranean Sea coast, there will certainly be attacks and attempts, but in the finale things change: heading inland to tackle the Côte de Bagues (6.1 km at 6.5%) before arriving in Barcelona and facing a 12 km circuit that features three passages over the Côte de Montjuic (1.6 km at 9.3%).
If the finish line is the same as yesterday, the same cannot be said for the side of the climb, this time harder, this time on a road that becomes much narrower in the final section, so the position at the front of the group will be fundamental. Third and final climb two kilometers from the finish line.
A hint: the last three winners on this finish at the Volta a Catalunya were Primoz Roglic in 2025, Tadej Pogacar in 2024 and Remco Evenepoel in 2023, so it's not difficult to sketch the profile of the possible favorite...
