Movistar Team have now confirmed the line-up with which they'll contest the 2026 Tour de France. Cian Uijtdebroeks will lead a squad that blends youth, experience and talent in the team's 44th participation in the Grande Boucle.
The other seven riders representing Movistar Team over the coming three weeks will be Raúl García Pierna, Pablo Castrillo, Einer Rubio, Javier Romo, Nelson Oliveira, Jefferson Cepeda and Michel Hessmann.
The 113th edition of the Tour de France will get under way this Saturday with a 19.4-kilometre team time trial through the streets of Barcelona. It will be the third time the French race has held its Grand Départ in Spain, following San Sebastián (1992) and Bilbao (2023). Present at the Tour without interruption since 1983, Movistar Team — the longest-standing outfit in the professional peloton — have won the race on seven occasions: once with Pedro Delgado (1988), five times with Miguel Induráin (1991-1995) and once with Óscar Pereiro (2006).
Cian Uijtdebroeks
The young Belgian faces his first Tour de France in a season in which he has confirmed his enormous potential. At 23, Cian has produced standout performances at the Volta a Catalunya and the Tour Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne, where he finished eighth and seventh respectively, despite a crash in February at the Vuelta a la Comunitat Valenciana disrupting the start of his season.
Regarded as one of the great talents in international cycling, he already knows what it takes to contest a Grand Tour against the very best: he finished eighth at the 2023 Vuelta a España. He will be the team's reference point in the fight for the general classification.
Raúl García Pierna
A true all-rounder. Raúl has established himself as one of the most prominent Spanish riders of the moment in a season in which he has already claimed a stage win at the Vuelta a la Comunitat Valenciana. He has also shone at WorldTour races such as the Itzulia Basque Country, where he finished second on a stage, and more recently at the Tour Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne, where he featured in four breakaways, finished three days inside the top-10 and left a strong impression in the mountains.
He'll contest his third Tour de France with the confidence gained from his progression over the past two editions and the ability to contribute on any terrain.
Pablo Castrillo
Explosiveness and ambition. Pablo arrives at the Tour fresh from being crowned Spanish ITT champion, confirming the progression that had already seen him break into the World Tour with his two stage wins at the 2024 Vuelta a España. In 2026 he finished third on the queen stage of the Tour de Romandie and, although physical issues forced him to abandon the Tour Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne, he showed signs of his good form with two breakaways.
At 25, he will take on his second Tour de France and the fourth Grand Tour of his career, established as one of the riders with the greatest potential in the Spanish peloton.
Einer Rubio
A mountain specialist. Einer returns to competition after a Giro d'Italia in which he once again showed his combative racing style. He featured in six breakaways and came close to victory on the stage into Andalo, confirming his ability to be a protagonist on the toughest days. Having just signed a contract extension through 2028, the Colombian will contest his second Tour de France, having become one of Movistar Team's key riders.
A reliable climber and stage winner at the 2023 Giro d'Italia, the Colombian will make his presence felt on this Tour de France's highest peaks.
Javier Romo
A rider for any scenario. Javier will make a return to a Grand Tour after being forced to abandon the Giro d'Italia through illness. Now fully recovered, he returned to competition at the Tour de Suisse. He also arrives off the back of one of the best performances of his career, finishing third on the queen stage of the Itzulia Basque Country.
Romo will take on his second Tour de France in the midst of his sporting development, with the experience of having come close to a stage win at last year's Vuelta a España, where he finished second in Los Corrales de Buelna.
Nelson Oliveira
Our great captain. At 37, Nelson will once again take up the role of leader within Movistar Team's ranks for what will be his 24th Grand Tour: ten Tour de France, four Giro d'Italia and ten Vuelta a España. An impressive record to which another remarkable statistic can be added: he has never failed to finish a single one of them.
Having raced the Giro d'Italia this season, the Portuguese rider will once again serve as the team's guide in decisive moments and one of the pillars of the telecom-backed outfit.
Jefferson Cepeda
A dependable reinforcement for the mountains. The Ecuadorian will make his Tour de France debut in what will be the sixth Grand Tour of his career. In 2026 he again demonstrated his quality with a seventh-place finish in the GC at the Tour de Romandie and, despite being forced to abandon the Tour Rhône-Alpes-Auvergne due to the flu that affected the team, he'll arrive at the start in Barcelona fully recovered.
A climber of great consistency, Jefferson will be a key figure in shielding Cian Uijtdebroeks and strengthening the squad on the high-mountain stages.
Michel Hessmann
The reward for consistency. The German has earned his place in Movistar Team's eight thanks to his work rate and reliability throughout his second season with the team. At 25, he'll discover the Tour de France having already raced the Giro d'Italia in 2023 and the Vuelta a España in 2025.
His role will be important in supporting Cian Uijtdebroeks and adding solidity over the three weeks of racing, just as he has done throughout the year. Michel has also just extended his contract with Movistar Team through 2027.
