A surprise victory that brings to light an athlete of undoubted talent: at the national championships, this too can happen.
The protagonist of this story is called Sif Madsen, she is twenty-four years old, is registered with the club team Aalborg Cykle-Ring and this afternoon she was crowned Danish time trial champion, completing the 29-kilometer circuit at Herning in 37 minutes and 08 seconds. Behind her came Emma Norsgaard Bjerg of Lidl–Trek, second at 2'24" back, and Amanda Poulsen of Team Redcat, third with a deficit of 3'17".
So far, the cold facts made of numbers. Browsing her social media profile, we came across an emotional clip – which we present to you below – in which Sif's boyfriend and father celebrate after the official announcement of today's victory, the day of her first elite cycling race. Digging a little deeper, tuttobiciweb discovered that Sif has been practicing triathlon for over ten years and in her resume she can boast several participations in World Cup events, but above all she can boast a silver medal at the Youth Olympic Games.
To prepare for the national championships, the 2001-born athlete also spent four weeks at altitude in Sierra Nevada and underwent wind tunnel testing to improve her position on the bike.
We don't know what other results Sif will be able to achieve, some on social media already call her "legendary". It's a bit early to say, but she is certainly an athlete to follow. She, meanwhile, smiles and declares: "I am very happy to be able to prove that triathletes can also excel in cycling."
