The 2026 UEC European Para-Cycling Road Championships concluded yesterday in Maniago (Italy), with 272 athletes representing 29 nations competing over three days in races of high technical level and spectacular quality.
Italy closed the event in first place in the medal count with 10 gold medals, 5 silver and 4 bronze, ahead of France, second with 9 golds, 10 silvers and 3 bronzes, and the Netherlands, third with 8 golds, 5 silvers and 3 bronzes. France and the Netherlands once again confirmed their role as protagonists in European para-cycling, while Switzerland also distinguished itself with performances of absolute significance.
In front of the home crowd, the Italian National team achieved significant results thanks to a combination of emerging young talents and athletes already established at the international level. Among the most beautiful stories of the continental championship are those of Mattia Salvalaggio, who managed to win the European title in the C4 time trial at his first European Championship with the Italian jersey, and Andrea Biancalani, who at his debut in the continental competition won the gold medal in the C4 road race. Also noteworthy is the success of Claudia Cretti in the road race of the C5 category.
Among the confirmations stand out Fabrizio Cornegliani (H1), Roberta Amadeo (H2) and Giorgio Farroni (T1), who dominated their respective categories by winning both European jerseys, in the time trial and in the road race, consolidating their role as reference points in the continental landscape.
Among the young talents who emerged during the event, special mention deserves the Frenchman Louis Hubert. At just 19 years old, the French rider achieved a prestigious double by winning both the time trial and the road race of the C3 category.
Also noteworthy are the performances of Slovenian Anej Doplihar, winner of the H3 road race, and French Anaïs Vincent, among the absolute protagonists of the championship with three European titles won in the H3 time trial, the H3 road race and the Team Relay.
