Two years still remain until LA28, but it's already time to start the countdown to the next Summer Olympic Games. From this season onwards, athletes are chasing qualification that could change a career, while preparations are underway in Los Angeles, where confirmation has come today of the start and finish venues for all road cycling events.
The Olympic and Paralympic Games cycling events in Los Angeles 2028 will conclude at the famous Griffith Observatory. Both individual time trial and road race events will be decided in the Griffith Park area. Located at 346 meters above sea level on the south side of Mount Hollywood, the observatory is a popular tourist attraction with breathtaking views over the Los Angeles basin. Its elevated position means that athletes will have to face an uphill finish in their race for Olympic titles in both individual time trials and road races.
On July 19, the Olympic time trial events will start from the Los Angeles Zoo, also in the Griffith Park area, while the road races will start from Venice Beach Boardwalk, as previously announced. The road races are scheduled for July 22 and 23, 2028.
The Paralympic road cycling events (road race, time trial, and mixed team relay) will start and finish at the Los Angeles Zoo between August 22 and 26. Located approximately 4 km northeast of Griffith Observatory, the zoo spans about 133 acres within Griffith Park.
Pending further details on the routes for all road cycling events at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we remind you that BMX events will take place at Valley Complex 4 and BMX Freestyle at Valley Complex 1, in the Valley Zone, track cycling at Carson Velodrome, while the Olympic mountain bike challenges at the Industry Hills MTB Course in the City of Industry Zone.
