After his unfortunate participation in the Giro d'Italia, Arnaud De Lie returns to victory and puts his signature on the fourth stage of the Ethias-Tour de Wallonie, the Dison - Eupen route of 167 km. The Belgian from Lotto-Intermarché preceded Riley Sheehan of NSN Cycling Team and Ben Oliver of Modern Adventure Pro Cycling. It was precisely American Sheehan who conquered the leader's jersey in the general classification.
It was Riley Sheehan who attacked on a climb eight kilometers from the finish and in pursuit came New Zealander Laurence Pithie (Red Bull – BORA hansgrohe), winner of yesterday's stage. When it seemed destined to complete the catch-up, Pithie struggled on the difficult final kilometer. A Sheehan victory? Certainly not, because De Lie pulls off a tremendous effort, makes up ground and overtakes the American just meters from the finish line. An enormous effort from De Lie, who immediately after crossing the line needed to remain seated on the ground for long seconds to catch his breath.
