One day remains until the start of the Giro d'Italia Women by ITA - Italian Trade Agency, organized by RCS Sport in collaboration with the Italian Cycling Federation, which will start from Cesenatico and conclude, after nine stages, 1179.7 km and over 12,000 meters of elevation gain, in Saluzzo on June 7th. The 21 teams taking part have announced their official rosters, just minutes before the team presentation that will be held in Cesenatico in Piazza Costa starting at 6 PM.
A stellar battle is shaping up for the final Maglia Rosa, starting with two-thirds of last year's podium: Elisa Longo Borghini (winner for the last two years), and Marlen Reusser (current world time trial champion).
Joining them are two major returns: European champion Demi Vollering - winner this season of the Ronde Van Vlaanderen and Liege-Bastogne-Liege - and Anna Van der Breggen, victor of four editions of the Giro Rosa (2015, 2017, 2020 and 2021).
Less favored in the predictions, but still in contention for notable placements, are also Marion Bunel (among the favorites for the Maglia Bianca), Monica Trinca Colonel, Barbara Malcotti and Antonia Niedermaier.
SPRINTERS AND STAGE HUNTERS
Great anticipation also for the bunch sprints. Spotlights still on Lorena Wiebes - five stage wins in three participations, plus the 2025 Maglia Rossa - and Charlotte Kool, returning to the Giro after four years. Italian riders Chiara Consonni, winner of three stages from 2022 to 2024, and Elisa Balsamo, world champion in 2021 and with two Giro victories, both in 2022, will also try to make their mark. Attention also to Lara Gillespie, author of a brilliant start to the season, and to Ally Wollaston.
The list of athletes seeking partial victories is particularly rich. Watch out for world champion Magdeleine Vallieres and debutant Cat Ferguson, born in 2006 but already a protagonist. Among the contenders for stage wins are also Eleonora Gasparrini, Pfeiffer Georgi, Niamh Fisher-Black, Vittoria Guazzini, Shirin Van Anrooij and Alison Jackson.
