The difficult moment continues for UAE Team Emirates-XRG which, after seeing almost all of its riders crash during the second stage of the Giro d'Italia (Adam Yates, Jay Vine and Marc Soler being the three who suffered the worst consequences), was also not spared from misfortune at the Tro Bro Leon.
In the classic French race held on the famous Breton ribinou, the Emirati team had to do without Filippo Baroncini during the race due to a crash. According to the team doctor Adrian Rotunno, Baroncini sustained a "suspected injury to the left collarbone and acromioclavicular joint".
"Tomorrow he will undergo surgical examination in Brussels before returning home for rehabilitation and recovery under the supervision of the team's medical staff," the team led by Mauro Gianetti clarified on their social channels. Due to the setbacks suffered in recent days at the Giro d'Italia and the injury that is still keeping Isaac Del Toro sidelined, in the coming weeks the team will not be able to count on five of its riders.
For Baroncini, who returned to racing last March at the Volta a Catalunya following the terrible accident in August 2025 at the Tour of Poland where he suffered fractures to his collarbone, spine and face and was placed in a medically induced coma for several days, this is yet another setback in a career that, since turning professional in 2022, has seen him face more or less serious interruptions and recoveries at least once per season.
The hope is that, after having to endure so much suffering over the past five seasons, once this new setback is behind him, the trajectory of the twenty-five-year-old Lombard in professional cycling can be much more straightforward and less accident-prone than it has been so far.
