Fresh, motivated and ready to seize every opportunity: Fabio Christen is preparing to line up tomorrow at the start of his first Giro d'Italia, another important milestone in the growth of the young Swiss cyclist with the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling team.
After returning to peak fitness and regaining optimal condition in recent weeks, Christen arrives at the Corsa Rosa with enthusiasm, ambition and the freedom to race aggressively for all three weeks.
"My first Giro and my second Grand Tour overall. It's obviously something very special and the emotion is enormous. I'm happy to be here and ready to face the race day by day, looking for opportunities that best suit my characteristics."
True to the team's "Race Sharp" philosophy, the Giro will offer Christen multiple opportunities to target stages suited to his style, particularly explosive and selective finishes.
"We don't have a clearly defined general classification leader, so there will be plenty of freedom to target the stages that suit us and fight for results."
The ambition of the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team is clear from day one: race aggressively, animate the race and fight for stage wins throughout the Giro.
"For us, the goal at the Giro is clearly to fight for a stage win. Every day is an opportunity. With Moschetti we have a rider for bunch sprints, I can target reduced bunch finishes and we also have strong climbers who can aim for top ten finishes in the mountains."
For Fabio Christen, tomorrow's start is not only the beginning of his first Giro d'Italia, but a further opportunity to continue proving his worth at the highest level, with sharp legs, aggressive racing and the fearless mentality that characterizes the Q36.5 team.
