Just hours before the teams depart for Bulgaria, Unibet Rose Rockets has been forced to make a change to its roster for the Giro d'Italia. The twenty-three-year-old Norwegian Karsten Feldmann will not be departing for Bulgaria. He will be replaced by Czech rider Matyas Kopecky from Leiden, who will make his debut at the Giro d'Italia just like his brother Tomas.
Young Feldmann was present at all of Unibet Rose Rockets' victories and successes this year, proving to be a valuable element for Dylan Groenewegen's lead-out train, working alongside Tomas Kopecky, Lukas Kubis and Elmar Reinders. However, a health issue forced Feldmann to throw in the towel, and the Dutch team's technical staff decided to call up for the Giro d'Italia the powerful Czech Matyas Kopecky, born in 2003, who until last year raced for Novo Nordisk, which means that he suffers from type 1 diabetes.
