Following Belgian Kristof Ramon, who was featured at the former Monte dei Pegni in San Daniele del Friuli (UD) in 2025, here comes another young and promising cycling photographer at WeLikeBike 2026. This is Harry Talbot, a New Zealander, native of Christchurch, but resident of Girona, Spain for several years now.
At 26 years old, Talbot is one of the young talents in world cycling photography, alongside Russ Ellis, Chris Auld, Matt Grayson and Kristof Ramon. Harry started photographing at 15 years old, thanks to a small Canon camera he received as a gift: from that moment on, he never left the historic Japanese brand. He now uses an EOS R5 Mark II, then 'works' his photos with Adobe Lightroom.
He worked as a barista, then began his photography career, with weddings and various ceremonies. Always drawn to nature and sport, he began to take an interest in cycling in 2020. Speaking with a photographer from his country who had recently retired, he decided to move to Europe two years later to follow the most important cycling races in the world. To do so, at first he was forced to sleep in his car, but this didn't worry him much. In April of that same year, his first major classic, one of the most iconic, the Paris-Roubaix, in the year of Dutch rider Dylan Van Baarle's victory.
From that moment his photos became known among industry professionals, cycling teams and sports enthusiasts. "Photographing cyclists isn't easy, since they often go 50-60 kilometers per hour – says Talbot – it would certainly be simpler to take 'easy' photos, in the 'right' places, photos that, in some way, we've already seen. I like to have a different point of view, to create a story, to evoke emotions. Thinking creatively, trying to produce unique shots is, first and foremost, a challenge with yourself, the best way to grow and evolve. And it's beautiful to do it with cycling: when you look at this sport through the lens of a camera, it's hard not to fall in love with it instantly".
