Dramatic news comes from France. Colombian Cristian Camilo Muñoz did not make it. The Nu Colombia rider had fallen last Saturday during the Tour du Jura: according to reports from Colombian media outlets, Muñoz was promptly rescued and transported to the hospital, but his condition appeared serious from the start due to a severe knee wound.

The rider, as his team explained in an official statement, was treated and then followed his teammates to Oviedo, where a new examination revealed a very serious infection and it became necessary for him to be transferred to a specialized facility, still in France. Muñoz was placed in intensive care but died from sepsis in the early morning hours of today. His team, Nu Colombia, decided not to start the second stage of the Vuelta a Asturias.
