The Red Bull KM returns to the 2026 Giro d'Italia, the spectacular innovation introduced in 2025 and already capable of leaving its mark on the general classification, making the race for the Pink Jersey even more thrilling. Compared to last year, there is a novelty destined to profoundly change the dynamics of the race: the Red Bull KM will be positioned much closer to the finish line.

A strategic choice that promises to ignite competition in the decisive moments of every stage. In 20 of the 21 stages (excluding the time trial – 10th stage), the Red Bull KM will become a true springboard towards the finale, pushing the general classification contenders to reveal their cards and fight for every second, precisely when tension is already reaching its peak.

As in 2025, the first three riders who pass under the second Red Bull KM arch will earn time bonuses of 6, 4 and 2 seconds; there will be no other intermediate opportunities to gain precious seconds for the general classification, except at the finish line, where only the stage winner receives 10 seconds of bonus.

The Red Bull KM has been of focal importance to the fortunes of the Giro d'Italia from the start: as proof of this, Isaac Del Toro, second in the general classification and winner of the White Jersey for best young rider, thanks to his passages, earned no fewer than 14 seconds of bonus.

In 2026, with the stage finale now within reach, the approach to the Red Bull KM is shaping up to be even more characterized by fierce competition, making the outcome of the stage truly unpredictable.

In a stage race, where every second counts, the new positioning will make every passage through the Red Bull KM even more crucial and decisive for the Pink Jersey; the spectacle will be born from the decisions of the teams.

Let us prepare ourselves therefore for more explosive stage finishes, higher pace and an even tighter battle for the general classification, day after day.
