A very different route compared to the opening stage, but no less treacherous for that. The course can be divided into three distinct sections.
After the start from Lodi (11:45 AM) the first section, approximately 45 kilometers, will be predominantly flat and smooth, with the exception of the brief climb towards the San Colombano hill.
The central section will instead take the peloton onto the roads of Oltrepò Pavese, with a continuous alternation of climbs and descents. Here the riders will face the Canneto Pavese climb twice, a key point that could favor attacks and selections.
After crossing the Po River, the course will return towards the plains, partially retracing the initial route, including a new ascent of the Belfuggito climb at San Colombano, though tackled from a different side.
The final 22 kilometers will be completely flat, characterized by long straightaways. A scenario that leaves open the possibility of a bunch sprint finish, with a linear final kilometer and a right-hand curve approximately 300 meters from the finish line that will launch the final showdown.
