At the Thermal Baths Hall in Casciana, with the participation of Mayor Paolo Mori, Sports Assessor Enrico Fatticcioni, President of the Tuscany Regional Committee Luca Menichetti, and as guest of honor former professional cyclist Francesco Casagrande, the official launch of the new women's Team Fabiana Luperini took place, one of the major developments in Italian cycling for the 2026 season.
A four-year project is now underway with junior and youth riders, aimed at developing new generations of athletes embodying the values of commitment, discipline, professionalism, and passion. A continuous and integrated project, a formative environment that carries forward the sporting legacy of Fabiana Luperini, a great champion of women's cycling, to create a complete women's pathway from junior to elite level. Beyond her, the fundamental commitment of Stefano Giovannetti and team president Gianni Marcucci is essential.
Leading the eight athletes—two junior riders, four youth riders, and two under-23 riders—is Giorgia Catarzi, another former athlete and world champion, winner of the European and Italian track titles, who was trained by Fabiana Luperini herself. Luperini will serve as team manager and activity coordinator. Catarzi will be supported by sports directors Fabrizio Bachi and Damiano Catarzi, with Adriano Gastasini as athletic trainer.
The youth team consists of Olivia Giovannetti, a standout performer in the 2025 season, Sofia Micchi, Alyssa Di Girolamo, Asia Pucci, Silvia Maioli, and Ilaria Romoli, plus junior riders Sofia Bacci and Camilla Guerrieri. The team kits will feature white, pink, and light blue as the base colors, with bikes supplied by Colnago. The debut is scheduled for March 15 at the Michela Fanini Memorial in Monte San Quirico on the outskirts of Lucca.
