Tiesj Benoot's adventure with Decathlon CMA CMG has started on the wrong foot. During winter preparation, the Belgian suffered from back pain that forced him to interrupt his training program.
Following an examination and checks by the team's medical department, Benoot was diagnosed with a disc hernia that required surgical intervention.
Jacky Maillot, Head of Medical Department: "Tiesj Benoot underwent a successful lumbar disc hernia surgery this week. He is now beginning his recovery phase, and his return to competition will depend on his progress".
Tiesj Benoot's words: "For me, it's a real disappointment to miss the classics for the first time in my career. I will be the biggest supporter of my teammates in front of the TV. I am really motivated to return at an even higher level than before. A big thank you to the team for continuing to have faith in me during these difficult moments".
