In Konya... we're flying! It was already known that the track of the new Turkish velodrome was fast, and we saw that yesterday, but today the big guns came out to compete, and within a couple of hours in the afternoon session, two new world records were established.
In the women's speed tournament, British rider Emma Finucane pedaled in qualification with a 9.759 time at an average of 73.778 kmh. The previous record belonged to Chinese rider Yuan Liying with 9.976, set right here in Konya on March 15, 2025.
In the team pursuit, the Danish quartet, already world champions, further lowered the world record: Norman Lasse Leth, Frederik Madsen, Rasmus Pedersen, and Tobias Hansen covered 4 km in 3.39.977. The previous record belonged to Australia with 3.40.730, established in Paris during the 2024 Olympic Games.
