Ben Healy's marriage with EF Education-Easypost is extending for another three seasons. The American team, which deserves credit for launching the twenty-five-year-old Irishman's rise among cycling's elite in 2022, has decided to continue betting strongly on the Kingswinford native by extending his contract until 2029.
Backed by this renewed agreement, the winner of the stage in Vire Normandie at the last Tour de France will be able to approach the upcoming seasons with great tranquility, setting his sights on new important milestones.
"I just need to continue being myself. I want to continue doing what I've always done and set an example," Healy declared through his team's official channels after signing.
"I love the process of improving. After the off-season, having not pedaled for a couple of weeks, I was so excited to start working in that direction again - it's something I find very rewarding. Being here in this position, with the palmares I have, is something I'm very proud of: I've grown tremendously as a cyclist, refining my skills, and I've never lost the desire to do so."
In addition to his qualities, in trying to achieve his next ambitious goals, Healy will be able to count on the support of an environment and a work group that, after four intense seasons spent with the same jersey, he now knows very well.
"I'm very good friends with every guy in the team and this creates a contagious atmosphere that brings everyone closer," said the two-time national road champion, speaking about the atmosphere in the squad and the relationships that govern it.
"It's not just us guys, but everyone, the entire staff. There's no race or training camp I participate in that leaves me disappointed. It's always very fun to be together, we always laugh a lot at the table, and this, spending so many days traveling around the world, is extremely important because it pushes you to work a bit harder for others," Healy explained. Through this extension, he establishes himself more and more (along with Neilson Powless) as a representative face of the North American team - a squad that expects nothing less from him than other prestigious performances and results achieved with the same bold racing style he has shown in recent years.
"Ben is the leader we want," said EF Education-Easypost founder and CEO Jonathan Vaughters. "He is thoughtful and always seeks to improve, but most importantly, he is always willing to take risks. Our team has been and will always be built on outsiders willing to take risks, and Ben is like that," concluded the head of the American team.
