The number of events in the Czech Republic could seriously double in the next edition of the Cyclocross World Cup.
As revealed by RoadCycling.cz, only the final details are missing to officially confirm the arrival of the most important competition in the sector in Ostrava next year, with a race scheduled for Friday that would precede the classic Tabor stage on Sunday.
In this way, if the plan is confirmed, the cyclocross events valid for the crystal sphere in the Czech Republic would rise to two. The country, according to emerging rumors, seems to want to create something absolutely unique and consolidate the growing interest in the discipline by hosting the new Ostrava race at night (similar to what happens in Diegem for the Superprestige) on a approximately 3000-meter course designed around the Dolní Vítkovice industrial site.
For cyclocross enthusiasts, this venue is not an unknown location, as several international cross and European Cup races have already been held in this corner of the country's third-largest city. This weekend, the national championships will also be added to these events.
In a venue where cyclocross is already breathed in all its essence, local fans of mud competitions could find a new opportunity to rekindle their passion and applaud some of the world's top athletes in the discipline, who would certainly not mind competing twice within a few days, driven by the warm and passionate support of Czech supporters.
