The great cyclocross spectacle made a stop at Pratoni del Vivaro: the first edition of the Cycling Café Trophy, organized by Promo Cycling, was blessed with sunshine and a course that was appreciated by all participants. The race was valid as the final stage of the Lazio Cross Trophy and was a two-day celebration, given that there was a combined event with Saturday's race, which was held on the same course.
On Sunday, the event concluded with a children's competition that animated the early afternoon on the short track circuit. Numerous authorities were present, including the President of the Lazio Regional FCI Committee, Maurizio Brilli, and Vice President Tony Vernile.
The day began with the race dedicated to Master categories 2-3-4 and Women. Among the women, the victory went to Sabrina Di Lorenzo (Pro Bike Riding Team), while the men's absolute category was won by Massimo Folcarelli (Race Mountain GM Sport), who once again triumphed wearing the World Master Champion jersey.
The second start of the day saw Open Women racing: among the Elite, Alessia Bulleri claimed victory, but the Cycling Café Racing Team didn't stop there, also achieving a triple win in the Junior Women category, with Maria Roberta Bertesteanu winning ahead of Sara Di Meo and Chiara Ottaviani. Among the Junior men, the home team Cycling Café Racing Team celebrated again, with Walter Vaglio managing to win in front of his teammate Francesco Carnevali.
Success for the team led by Fabio Ottaviani also came in the Men's Open category, where Andrea Ricca delivered an impeccable race. In the third start of the day, alongside the Open racers, the first-tier Masters also competed, with Fabrizio Trovarelli (Maximo Bikelab Team Astolfi) winning by crossing the finish line together with Ricca.
The Beginners and Cadets race was very well-attended. Winners included Elisa Faccenda (Tirreno Bike Cicli Fatato) in the Girls Beginners, Alessandro Tramontini (Cycling Café Racing Team) in the Boys Beginners, Lorenzo Sgrò (Tirreno Bike Cicli Fatato) in the First-Year Cadets, Chiara Massai (Tirreno Bike Cicli Fatato) in the First-Year Girls Cadets, Giulia Morfino (Cycling Café Racing Team) in the Second-Year Girls Cadets, and Massimiliano Del Podio (Castelli Romani Cycling) among the Second-Year Cadets. The day continued with the G6 category, with triumphs by Gabriele Baggi (Pirata Cosmetall) and Martina Di Meo (Castelli Romani Cycling).
The day concluded with all award ceremonies, including a draw prize provided by sponsor Depavision: three gift cards worth 50 euros each to be used at their sales points.
"After many years, we've returned to organizing a race," said Fabio Ottaviani, head of the organizing committee, "and it's never easy. We've already identified areas for improvement and apologize for any shortcomings, but our goal is to grow this event, which took place in the splendid setting of the Pratoni del Vivaro Equestrian Center, hoping one day to organize a national and, why not, an international race. The potential is definitely there. I want to thank all sponsors, all participants, and all the people who collaborated to make the event a success."
