Remco Evenepoel has revealed his plans for the upcoming season. In the sunshine of Mallorca, where he arrived on Saturday, the two-time Olympic champion has worked out the 2026 season program with manager Ralph Denk and the new technicians of Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe.
Temperatures of 20 degrees, mild climate, and so Remco has already pedaled four and a half hours on Monday and five on Tuesday. But the focus is on his programs, which were announced this afternoon. And they surprised because in the morning the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad had made some previews, one of which turned out to be unfounded: Remco will not make his debut at the Tour of Flanders.
The Belgian will start his season very early, in the team time trial of the Mallorca Challenge, before heading to the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. Then a high-altitude retreat in preparation for the Northern Classics and return to racing at the Vuelta a Catalunya, so no Milano-Sanremo for him. No to the Tour of Flanders but focus on the Ardennes Classics with the Amstel Gold Race (April 20), Flèche Wallonne (April 23) and Liège-Bastogne-Liège (April 26) as a fundamental objective of his spring. No Giro d'Italia and classic approach to the Tour de France through the Critérium du Dauphiné, after an intense spring with no less than 20-25 racing days.
"No Flanders, I just want a good season, calm and without too many crazy things, and I hope to conclude it without interruptions. The plan for the future will be the plan for the future and... we'll think about it at the right time".
