Tomorrow Saturday, December 6th starting at 11 am, the ceremony will take place at Enrico Berlinguer Street (corner of Museum Square in Prato) with the dedication of the Prato-Florence cycle path section to Giovanni Iannelli, the young Prato cyclist who died following a fall during the sprint in a cycling race in the province of Alessandria in October 2019.
"On the eve of the ceremony - recalls Carlo Iannelli, Giovanni's father - there was a beautiful gesture by the Bishop of Prato Giovanni Nerbini whom I thank from the bottom of my heart, who sent me a sincere letter".
The Bishop writes that "the news of dedicating a section of the bicycle path to Giovanni has brought me joy and relief. I perceived it as a small but necessary reparation for years of difficult struggle to obtain recognition of an uncomfortable truth never legally acknowledged but only in the testimonies of numerous professionals. I thought - the Bishop concludes in his letter - especially of you family members, knowing that this will not bring back your beloved relative but honors his name by inserting it among the important names of our city to be remembered regularly".
