Yesterday, the now traditional training course for Italian neo-professionals took place, which allowed us to discover the new faces that will be part of the top category from 2026.
Among them stand out Matteo Milan, younger brother of Jonathan, raised in the Lidl Trek youth system and ready to jump to Groupama FDJ; Edoardo Cipollini, nephew of Mario "Re Leone"; and also the twin brothers Gabriele and Tommaso Bessega who we'll have trouble distinguishing since they'll both wear the Polti VisitMalta jersey, to whom we asked who is the stronger of the two.
In the "2026 class" the youngest is Matteo Turconi at 18 years old, who leaves Bustese Olonia for Bardiani CSF, following in the footsteps of his brother Filippo, while the oldest making his debut at the top of world cycling is Mattia Gaffuri at 26, who moves from Swatt Club to PicNic PostNL. Numerically dominant are the riders from MBH Bank Ballan Csb Colpack.
Watch the video produced by the Italian Professional Cyclists Association (ACCPI) where the Italian riders ready to make the leap to professionalism introduce themselves to the public, before the welcome message of Elia Viviani.
