In a setting and stage worthy of X-Factor in terms of preparation, attention to detail, and lighting effects, the Space 42 Arena in Abu Dhabi will today host the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships 2025. Organized by the MyWhoosh platform - which is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and employs experts and engineers from around the world - at the center of it all is also an Italian excellence in its field, the Padua-based company Elite, which provides interactive rollers to all 40 athletes competing.
In particular, the Justo 2 model will be the smart trainer that will be colored rainbow today. Selected by UCI and MyWhoosh, and daily used by Tadej Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates-XRG, the Justo 2 by Elite represents one of the highest standards in indoor cycling today. Subjected to a shared test protocol to ensure data stability, accuracy, and integrity, it will offer finalists power measurement down to the millimeter and an immediate response to every pace change. It is equipped with a pre-installed 12-speed cassette for immediate setup, a 10 Hz data transmission, and automatic calibration, thus ensuring quick connections and consistently aligned values over time; stand-alone modes allow training even without an app, while the optional wired connection guarantees maximum stability in the most demanding sessions. The two sets of Flex Feet replicate the natural oscillation of the bike, improving biomechanical comfort.
The work done on each roller present in Abu Dhabi has been tremendous: "They have been calibrated to the millimeter, because being an official UCI race, there can be no margin of error - explains Marco Cavallin, Sponsorship & Product Innovation Manager of Elite -. If usually each trainer we produce undergoes about 3 hours of testing, with these World Championship ones we have reached up to 200. It was a very time-consuming work, started a year ago right after the end of the World Championship. I can assure you that it is more complicated to prepare this event compared to working for two WorldTour teams".
Of course, for a company making rollers, there could be no more prestigious scenario than an Esports World Championship: "The effort is significant, but we have noticed the results. If until last year the percentage of 'professional' athletes in the discipline who had an Elite roller was small, now thanks to this partnership, several top riders have chosen us. It is still a developing world, we just have to stay awake and attentive," Cavallin concluded.
