At its fifth edition, BEKING continues to be much more than a sporting event. It is a meeting point of professionalism, passion, and solidarity. This year, alongside the names that have been supporting the project for years, the Monegasque criterium welcomes a female category for the first time, which will see major protagonists of world cycling competing. Among these will be Anna van der Breggen and Kasia Niewiadoma, two athletes who, with sensitivity and determination, embody the most authentic values of the project: uniting through sport, inspiring the younger generation, and supporting charitable causes.
"The combination of a fun event, in a wonderful location, and for a good cause convinced me to participate," says Anna van der Breggen, at her first BEKING experience. "The beauty of cycling is that it can offer much more than a race: it can inspire, unite, and do good." The Dutch champion, always attentive to the human aspect of sport, will also participate to support the fundraising for cyclist Amy Pieters: "For me, it's important to use the bike to help as well. If we can contribute - even in a small part - to her life journey, it means a lot."
For Kasia Niewiadoma, BEKING represents an opportunity to experience cycling from a different perspective, far from the tensions of the competitive calendar: "This is the first year I'll be participating, and I can't wait to discover this unique atmosphere. I know that BEKING is about friendship, fun, children, and the future - aspects I strongly believe in." The Polish athlete emphasizes the importance of inspiring new generations: "As I grow, I see cycling from a different point of view. Helping children get on the bike, transmitting passion and confidence is something we should all do."
A sentiment shared by the event's regulars, like Steven Kruijswijk, who has been a protagonist since the first edition. "There's a special energy at BEKING," he says. "No pressure, just people enjoying the bike together for a good cause. It's nice to shed the race face and remember why we started pedaling." The Dutch rider also highlights the educational message the event conveys: "I would like young people to see cycling as something fun, not just pure competition. If more children grow up pedaling, we'll have more adults who use bikes every day - to go to work, meet friends, or simply clear their minds."
Representing the spirit of the Principality is Victor Langellotti, a home athlete and BEKING values ambassador. "It's always a pleasure to race in front of my family and friends, on Monaco's streets," he states. "It's an opportunity to share our passion with fans, experience a moment of sport and friendship, and inspire young people." Langellotti also emphasizes the connection between BEKING and local culture: "In Monaco, the bicycle culture is already strong - many professionals live here, and the government supports soft mobility. BEKING pushes even further in this direction and encourages kids to use bikes in everyday life."
As every year, the event confirms its inclusive and supportive nature, capable of uniting professionals, families, and children in a day where competition gives way to sharing. BEKING 2025 will be, once again, a celebration of cycling and solidarity, an opportunity to pedal alongside one's idols and rediscover the purest essence of sport: having fun, doing good, and inspiring the future.
