After 10 years, the Giro d'Italia returns to Cassano d'Adda (Milan). Alessandro Brambilla announces it in today's Tuttosport: in the 2026 edition of the Giro, the stage on May 27th will start from Cassano d'Adda. The castle of Cassano will serve as a backdrop for the stage preliminaries before heading towards Trentino.
The city of Cassano d'Adda intends to honor Gianni Motta 60 years after his splendid Giro d'Italia victory. The 1966 edition of the pink race was dominated by the champion who has always lived in Groppello di Cassano d'Adda. In '66, Gianni not only won the general classification but also won 2 stages and the points classification. The Giro had previously stopped in Cassano d'Adda in 2016, 50 years after Gianni's success. The Molveno-Cassano stage in 2016 was won by German Roger Kluge, a multi-titled track cyclist who is still active.
