Once again, it's up to you, dear readers: we entrust you with the task of choosing the best Italian technical director of the season. We know well that the role of sports director has evolved, changed, and perhaps even been completely transformed in recent years. Team technical staffs are increasingly larger, both in number and in the quality of roles and specializations. Obviously, it's difficult to identify team and technician as was done in the past, which is why we've relied on the help of experts and "great sages" with whom we've selected ten names.
For the assignment of one of the most prestigious TuttoBICI Awards of the season, destined for the best Italian technician, a prize strongly desired by the Iseni y Nervi Foundation and its president Fabrizio Iseni, we launch a poll offering you, as mentioned, a list of ten names among traditional sports directors, preparers, and national team technicians. Our virtual ballot boxes will remain open until 12 pm on Wednesday, November 4th.
To cast your vote, go to the POLLS section on the right side of the monitor. At the moment, Marco Villa is leading ahead of Davide Bramati, but all solutions are still possible, so don't hesitate and express your preferences.
Here are the 10 selected, in strict alphabetical order:
Fabio Baldato, 57 years old, technician of UAE Team Emirates XRG, which nearly reached 100 victories, won first place in the UCI team ranking again, and practically won everything with Tadej Pogacar. Fabio has already won the Award in 2023.
Davide Bramati, 57 years old, sports director of Soudal Quick Step. In the triumphs achieved by Remco Evenepoel, Tim Merlier, Paul Magnier, and teammates, there is often the "touch" of the Milan sports director. He has already won the Award in 2016 and 2019.
Bruno Cenghialta, 62 years old, sports director of Xds Astana, a team that won 33 victories this year and was one of the season's revelations.
Claudio Cozzi, 59 years old, is sports director of Tudor Pro Cycling, a Swiss team that is proceeding along a growth path and has achieved 15 victories this season.
Marco Marzano, 45 years old, sports director of UAE Team Emirates XRG, capable of conquering an important space in the technical staff of the world's number 1 team.
Gabriele Missaglia, 55 years old, sports director of Q36.5 Pro Cycling, a team that won 13 victories this season and aims for an even brighter future.
Valerio Piva, 67 years old, sports director of Jayco AlUla, a team that closed the season with 19 victories. Behind many of these is the expert "touch" of Piva, who won the first edition of our Award in 2009.
Matteo Tosatto, 51 years old, sports director of Tudor Pro Cycling. An excellent first season for the Swiss team, and an even more excellent second - 2025 - considering the extremely high level of races faced.
Marco Villa, 56 years old, national professional road team coach. He debuted at the Kigali World Championships with Giulio Ciccone's sixth place and, after the European Championship where Scaroni finished fourth, flew to Santiago for the worlds of his beloved track. He has already won the Award in the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024 seasons.
Stefano Zanini, 56 years old, technician of Xds Astana, sports director who, among others, closely followed Christian Scaroni in this beautiful season.
