Organizing a marriage is never easy, something the executives of Lotto and Intermarché Wanty know well, who have been working for months on a merger announced but not yet finalized. Between bureaucracy and various delays, it now seems that the last pieces of the intricate puzzle are finding their place and that the dossier of the emerging Belgian formation is complete and ready to be presented to the UCI in the coming days.

According to the Belgian publication hln.be, the managers of the management company holding the Lotto license would have reached an agreement with the Intermarché company, which would guarantee the team a balanced budget and the financial strength necessary to face future commitments. With these premises, it is easy to think that the team's name will be Lotto – Intermarché.

The team's roster is also being finalized: while Laurenz Rex has already been announced by Soudal Quick-Step and, as tuttobiciweb reported, Biniam Girmay's transfer to Cycling Academy seems now certain, according to Belgian colleagues, Hugo Page is close to Cofidis and Alexy Faure to Picnic PostNL, while Alpecin-Deceuninck is reportedly closing the deal with Gerben Thijssen.
