Raised in Cameri, in the Novara area, where he first started pedaling at 9 years old with the Galliatese Cycling Society, 18-year-old Luca Morlino conquered a fully deserved milestone with his victory in the junior "Piccolo Lombardia" at Castello di Carimate, culminating a 2025 that initially seemed unfortunate but saw him collect prestigious podiums and placements with the Lariana Pool Cantù-GB Junior team. A fall in early April during the Gran Premio Berna in Switzerland, which included a right collarbone fracture, compromised the first months of Morlino's season. Without ever losing support from his team and family, he managed to return even stronger to face his desire to fight and emerge in important races with determination.
"The fracture kept me away from races for a month and a half, but after a long journey of sacrifices and waiting, I had to start from scratch, and it was wonderful to start racing again," Morlino explains. "From May until now, I've been feeling good, I've had many highs and few lows, and I managed to crown a beautiful year with the Piccolo Lombardia victory. It's true I won only one race, but looking back, I'm proud of what I've done. When I'm racing, I always try to give my maximum."
Morlino is a complete cyclist, very strong uphill (weighing 54 kilograms), very courageous when attacking, skilled in pacing and not bad in sprints. He has a great team spirit, generous when needed, and distinguishes himself by his ability to perform well in almost all races. His love for cycling was transmitted by his father Francesco (a hairdresser like his mother Mara), a passionate cycling enthusiast. In the family, there's also Matteo, his older brother, who decided to pursue a career as a cinema actor. His training took place by moving from Galliatese to Velo Club Raffaele Marcoli until the GB Junior Team of former professional Gianluca Bortolami, now Pool Cantù GB Junior directed by Loris Ferrari. Luca is inspired by the current superstar Remco Evenepoel, whom he considers perfectly in sync with his own characteristics. Next year, he will debut among the under-23s with Solme Olmo of Forcolin.
"For me, it will be a season where I'll mainly try to gain experience, especially because, besides cycling, I have my high school finals (studying Human Sciences in Turin). My mind will almost always be focused on races, my world, but school is very important, and the diploma is a hurdle to overcome. My goal is to take flight towards professionalism, dreaming of the Giro d'Italia and the great classics".
Morlino is looking for a manager and has decided not to attend university after graduation - "I want to become the first professional cyclist from Cameri". Summarizing his season, which will conclude on Sunday, October 20th in Camignone in the Brescia area, besides the Piccolo Lombardia victory, Morlino finished second in the Valdera stage race and the second stage of the Lunigiana Tour, third at Ghisallo, in the national line race in Sarezzo and the Collegno-Sestriere, fourth in the international GP Sportivi di Loria, fifth at "Paganessi", sixth at Cima Monte Grappa, seventh at the Piccola Tre Valli Varesine, the Piedmont Championship and the Albano Magra-Barbarasco; thirteenth at the Italian road championship and the Buffoni Trophy.
