The European Championship in Drôme et Ardèche loses one of its stars. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, winner of the Tour de France Femmes, key figure in the French selection and one of the favorites for Saturday's continental road race, will not be at the start line due to illness. The French Cycling Federation has just announced that the 33-year-old Olympic mountain bike champion is suffering from "symptoms of an infection".
In the same statement, the French body also reports that Maeva Squiban, winner of two stages at the Tour de France and silver medalist with her "blue" teammates in the World Team Relay, is experiencing the same symptoms and therefore will not be able to participate in the European Championships on home roads.
