After crossing the finish line, Eleonora Ciabocco could barely hold back her tears and, clearly disappointed about the bronze medal that slipped away, told the RAI correspondent: "I'm really sorry, I was close to a medal and in the last 500 meters I didn't hesitate, I knew we could catch Bunel and I gave it my all... but Blasi passed me by just a few centimeters. I'm truly disappointed, I believe I really deserved the bronze medal".
The 21-year-old from Marche analyzes the world championship race and states: "The race was too controlled," I hoped the race would come alive earlier than it actually did. Fortunately, something moved, the various national teams with numerical superiority used their "pawns" and I, being alone, didn't waste energy and didn't seek collaboration from other athletes. "I repeat, I'm sorry to have come so close to the podium and lost it in the final meters".
Marco Velo, the Italian Women's Team Coach, analyzed the race that saw Ciabocco finish fourth and told the RAI correspondent Ettore Giovannelli: "We have nothing to complain about. The race went as we hoped and Eleonora raced according to the plans we made last night. We knew the French were strong and unfortunately Blasi overtook us at the finish line. Certainly, there remains the bitterness of not winning the medal that Eleonora truly deserved, she raced an excellent race".
The coach also looks to the future and explains: "Next year in Canada there will be another tough World Championship and the choice not to field Ciabocco this year among the Elite should be seen in perspective: if she had participated in the major category race this year, she would not have been able to do the Canadian World Championship in the U23, we hope that in 2026 she can do better".
