With the horizon already marked by the glory of the 2026 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championship, assigned to the Mythos Primiero Dolomiti project, the sports association Pedali di Marca raises the bar even further and announces having formalized two important bids for the future of cycling: the organization of the 2026 UCI Gravel World Series and the 2029 Cyclocross World Championship.
This ambitious development plan consolidates the association's vision of becoming a reference point in the international cycling event landscape, covering different and highly topical disciplines. The bid for the 2026 Gravel World Series aims to celebrate the growing popularity of this discipline, offering a technical and stunning route that traverses the unique beauty of the territory. At the same time, the proposal to host the Cyclocross World Championship in 2029 seeks to bring back to Italy one of the most prestigious and spectacular events on the UCI calendar, in a location to be revealed soon.
The seriousness and vision of Pedali di Marca have already been recognized by the UCI with the assignment of the 2026 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championship. An event that will make history, as for the first time a World Championship will unite Elite and Masters categories, bringing together the competitive spirit of professionals and the passion of the most experienced amateurs.
"The assignment of the 2026 Marathon World Championship was a turning point that pushed us to think even bigger," declares Massimo Panighel, President of Pedali di Marca. "Our bids for the Gravel World Series and the Cyclocross World Championship are the natural evolution of this path. We want to continue demonstrating that our territory, with the support of local administrations and trusted partners, has all the credentials to host high-level events, combining sport with values of sustainability and tourism promotion. We are ready to face the challenges that every World Championship entails, certain that the passion and professionalism of our team will take us far."
The anticipation for the outcome of the bids is strong, with the UCI Management Committee set to decide on September 25th in Kigali (Rwanda) during the Road World Championships. The Pedali di Marca association, with the full support of the Italian Cycling Federation, awaits the final verdict with optimism and determination, ready to write new pages of cycling history.
