Today's route is O Barco de Valdeorras - Alto de El Morredero. Ponferrada of 143.2 km, with 3,371 meters of elevation gain for a stage with a design we've come to know: relatively short distance, very little flat terrain on the roads marking the border between Galicia and the Province of Leon, a demanding final climb with its 9.8 km at an average 8.8% gradient.
It could be the ideal terrain for a new winning breakaway or the scene of an important clash between the overall contenders on the eve of the only individual time trial. Always assuming, as they said at the beginning, that the finish line can be reached...
