Mattias Skjelmose will be Denmark's key rider in the elite men's road race at the World Championships in Rwanda. The 24-year-old from Lidl-Trek, as announced by his Federation, will be joined in Africa by Mikkel Honoré (EF Education-EasyPost), Casper Pedersen (Soudal-Quick Step), Michael Valgren (EF Education-EasyPost), Anthon Charmig (XDS Astana) and three Jayco-AlUla riders: Anders Foldager, Christopher Juul Jensen and Asbjørn Hellemose.
"Mattias has shown this year that he can beat the best, and with a mix of experienced and young riders, I think we are prepared to face all possible scenarios," said Danish national coach Michael Mørkøv.
Among the elite women, the task of keeping the Scandinavian nation's flag high will fall to Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (CANYON/SRAM zondacrypto), who will be supported by Solbjørk Anderson (Uno-X Mobility) for the occasion.
It's worth noting that Denmark will not have other representatives in the remaining races of this year's World Championships, as they have decided not to bring athletes to the junior and Under 23 races in Copenhagen due to cost reasons.
