The first 8 individual stages of the Vuelta 2025 have seen six different cyclists prevail, representing six different nations. British rider Turner and Spaniard Ayuso have claimed their first career victories in the Iberian race, while the other four winners had previously won stages and thus enriched their palmares: Philipsen has now reached five stage wins, Vingegaard four, Gaudu and Vine three.
So far, four riders have worn the red jersey: Træen for four days, Vingegaard for three, and Philipsen and Gaudu one day each. Among the six nations that have scored victories, Italy is still absent, stuck on the success achieved on September 15, 2023 by Dainese and Ísar. For the Italian movement, this marks 31 consecutive individual stages without joy. In this edition, the Azzurri have achieved three partial podiums (second places for Ciccone and Frigo, third for Fortunato) and eight total top-ten placements.
Belgium leads the nation rankings in terms of podium finishes across eight individual stages: two victories, one second place, and two third places. The Vuelta has also seen the first World Tour 2025 victories for Vingegaard and Gaudu. With them, the number of riders who have scored in this calendar year rises to 73 in the main UCI circuit.
