The stage crosses the Langhe, reaches Cuneo and from there Mondovì with a practically flat development, beyond some ups and downs on the hills, but without difficulties.
The scenario changes in Borgo San Dalmazzo where the climb begins that will lead to the first mountain finish of Vuelta number 80: the final ascent is not particularly hard, it is classified as a second category climb, measuring 9.8 km at 5.1%. It is likely that the group of best riders will arrive to compete for the victory - and probably the red jersey - in a reduced sprint.
