The annual showcase of Pool Cantù-GB Junior is now colored with world championship hues. They celebrate with immense satisfaction the world title won by Francesco Matteoli in the Team Pursuit on the track at the junior world championships taking place in the Dutch velodrome of Apeldoorn. Matteoli, born in 2007 from Castelfiorentino, was part of the quartet that competed in the final against the formidable British team, achieving a final time of 3'54"56 together with his Italian teammates Magagnotti, Cornacchini, and Colombo.
"This gold medal rewards us for so much work and dedication to the track," said manager Antonio Meroni. "The track has always been an absolute priority for us, and the results obtained so far are proof of the meticulous and appropriate preparation between our technicians and the Italian National Staff led by Dino Salvoldi. Matteoli's gold has been extraordinary, confirming the qualities of the Tuscan rider who from the beginning believed in our growth project."
This is the fourth world title for Pool Cantù-GB Junior, which previously had won gold twice with Matteo Fiorin (2022-2023) and with Etienne Grimod (2023), always in the junior team pursuit. As for Matteoli, the Tuscan had been crowned European champion in the same specialty in Anadia last July, together with another Pool Cantù-GB Junior rider, Ruben Ferrari.
