There will be 18 Italian riders at the start of the 80th edition of the Vuelta, which is also the 300th grand tour in cycling history. A quality group with riders aiming to perform well in the general classification and others targeting stage wins.
Bahrain Victorious will field three Italians, led by Antonio Tiberi, who will be accompanied by the experienced Damiano Caruso and young Nicolò Buratti. XdS Astana also has three Italians: Nicola Conci, Lorenzo Fortunato, and Fausto Masnada. Red Bull Bora Hasngrohe also has three riders, in strict alphabetical order: Giovanni Aleotti, Giulio Pellizzari, and Matteo Sobrero.
Giulio Ciccone and Andrea Bagioli are the two Azzurri from Lidl Trek, joined by Luca Vergallito from Alpecin Deceuninck, Alessandro Verre from Arkea B&B Hotels, Filippo Ganna from Ineos Grenadiers, Simone Petilli from Intermarché Wanty, Marco Frigo from Israel Premier Tech, and the most experienced of all, Elia Viviani from Lotto.
The primary goal for all is to chase a stage victory, which has been missing since September 15, 2023, when Alberto Dainese sprinted to victory in Iscar.
