The eightieth edition of the Vuelta a España will start from Italy, with a team time trial in the opening week, ten mountain finishes (including the Angliru and Bola del Mundo), up to six potential group sprint opportunities, and a potentially decisive individual time trial in the final days before the race concludes in Madrid.
The Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe will be led by Jai Hindley, winner of the 2022 Giro d'Italia, who returns to Grand Tour leadership in the Spanish race. The Australian's pedigree and experience in three-week races make him well-suited to a challenging course like the Vuelta. The team will support him with a balanced squad, designed not only to support Hindley in the general classification but also to race aggressively and pursue stage victories during the three weeks.
Giulio Pellizzari will tackle his second Grand Tour of the season with the intention of learning from the vast experience of his Australian teammate.
The rest of the squad brings depth and cohesion from the Giro d'Italia earlier this year, with Aleotti, Denz, Hindley and Pellizzari all returning together: they will be joined by Finn Fisher-Black, Matteo Sobrero, Jonas Koch and Tim van Dijke.
Patxi Vila, Sporting Director of the German team, adds: "We have Jai Hindley as our leader for the general classification within a very balanced team. We will be competitive, we'll try to be in action, race aggressively and support Jai, but we'll also look for some stage victories. Even if it's not easy to pinpoint an exact expectation for Jai right now, he's a Grand Tour winner, a solid rider and has already shown he has the legs to win a three-week race".
