There are bonds that are born during a race and cycling makes them timeless, thanks to the sport's ability to connect people. Francesco Moser and Czesław Lang met during their professional cycling careers, challenged and supported each other, experiencing memorable victories and some disappointments. But most importantly, they forged a friendship that goes beyond the finish line and still connects them today. Their common thread? A special place that steals one's heart: Trentino.
For the two, this region is not just a geographical location, but a living part of their personal stories. Here, a human and sporting relationship was formed that still unites them today.
"In Trentino, I feel at home," Lang says with a smile. "I discovered these magical places thanks to cycling... and because of Francesco, who made me fall in love with these mountains."
The Dolomite rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, legendary climbs, breathtaking landscapes: everything seems designed for cycling enthusiasts. They have ridden these roads together, creating memories that united them more than ever. "I still remember a Granfondo we organized with a group of Poles," Lang continues. "From Pampeago, then Costalunga and finishing on Pordoi. A very long, exhausting, but unforgettable day."
The bond between the two champions was born when they raced together, but grew over time, nurtured by shared experiences and values. "We got to know each other when we pedaled side by side," Moser recalls, "and we remained friends."
Today, they continue to ride bikes with the same passion and less pressure, but with equal enthusiasm. Lang, who was the first Eastern European rider to participate in the Giro d'Italia, adds with a smile: "With Francesco, we shared intense emotions. Even a team time trial lost in the Giro for taking a wrong turn: we were supposed to win by a wide margin and finished second. But we won many time trials together."
Trentino was not just a place to pass through, but also to share, a postcard to send to the world to tell the beauty and intensity of a unique landscape. Together, they brought the Tour de Pologne to the Dolomites, ideally connecting two worlds, two cycling cultures.
"It was a challenging and beautiful experience," Moser recounts. "From Madonna di Campiglio to Pordoi, we had the precious opportunity to introduce our land to an international audience."
Places that have now made cycling and Giro d'Italia history and were the stage for heroic feats. Those climbs are part of a project called "Mythical Climbs". Today, where great cycling has experienced its most emotional moments, every turn tells a story, thanks to dedicated signage that accompanies cyclists on a journey through legend.
"Every time I ride these roads, I feel the same wonder," Lang concludes. "Trentino is not just synonymous with sport: it's nature, encounters, landscapes that stay with you forever. That's why all of us at the Lang Team don't just consider it a partner, but an active part of the race. Here, those who pedal don't just conquer climbs, but memories destined to last. Just like in Poland, where landscapes and hospitality make everyone feel welcome."
